Herda Brown Acrylic Wall Lamps
Materials: Brown painted metal (aluminium) base. Some brown plastic parts. Brown degrading acrylic half globe lampshades. Galvanised metal or Bakelite E27 sockets.

Other versions: The acrylic lampshade of these wall lamps was used for many other lamps.
These Herda brown acrylic wall lamps are made after a design by the famous Italian Company Harvey Guzzini. In the 1960s and 1970s they had a huge success with this type of lamps. Especially when they released the series of Clan, Bud and Flash lamps in 1968. Soon other companies sold their versions or interpretations. But they never succeeded in a good copy. The colour is OK when lit, but the brown isn’t as nice as the Guzzini lamps when not lit.
Herda
Herda Verlichting BV (Herda Lighting company) was a owned by the Dutch “brothers Daniels” family and was located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Founded in 1946 by Henk en Rob Daniels. The name Herda is the abbreviation of the surname of Mr. Herwaarden and the surname of the Daniels brothers. Mr Herwaarden had arranged the permit (which was very difficult after the war). The company was declared bankrupt on June 24, 1997.
Herda had some top designers employed, including Willem van Oyen Sr. who is famous for his lamps he designed for the Raak company, also from The Netherlands.
These lamps can be used as wall lamps, ceiling spots and so on.
The label says: 2 x 40 watt, apparently they were always sold as a couple, or this label is wrong.
These Herda brown acrylic wall lamps are often confused with lighting produced by Dijkstra, another Dutch company. Dijkstra sold many similar lamps, as several other companies such as the Belgian Massive. In all probability the lampshades came out of the same factory. The other parts are different.
Acrylic: often named by its commercial name: Perspex, Plexiglas, Crylux, Acrylite, Lucite, is a thermoplastic.
