Veneta Lumi Gooseneck Desk Lamp

Materials: Light blue painted metal round base. Black plastic lid on the bottom. Iron gooseneck with a ribbed black plastic flexible tube around it. Some plastic parts. Light blue conical aluminium lampshade, painted white inside. Bakelite E27 socket.

Lampshade: ∅ 10,2 cm / 4.01”

Height: 35 cm / 13.77” – adjustable

Base: ∅ 12 cm / 4.72”

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 60 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb with an E27 screw base can be used. Not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1980s.

Manufacturer: Veneta Lumi, Italy.

Other versions: This Veneta Lumi gooseneck desk lamp was made in many colours.

This lamp was also sold by Fischer Leuchten from Germany, but it has the switch on the base, not on the cord, you can find it over here. Also IKEA and Massive sold this lamp. Probably this lamp was made by Fisher Leuchten or Massive and sold by Veneta Lumi.

Veneta Lumi 

The name Veneta Lumi says it all: lights made in the Veneto region in the north of Italy. The capital and the largest city is Venice.

Not much is found about the Veneta Lumi company. It was active from the late seventies until the nineties. They produced many lamps in the at the eighties very popular Memphis style, made famous by Ettore Sottsass. In the beginning the name was Nuova Veneta Lumi. Nuova = new. It became Veneta Lumi in the eighties. They also used the name Laguna Light in the nineties, also referring to Venice

VLM Components

All the electric parts are made by VLM Components. The company was founded in 1945 in Buccinasco, a small village near Milan, Italy. The company became famous for the switches they produce since 1968, designed by Achille Castiglioni. You can find them over here. VLM is part of the Relco Group, founded in 1967. Today they are the owners of the brands RelcoLeuciRelco LightingVLM and Segno.
