1960s DORIA Glass Tubes Chandelier
Materials: Chromed metal (iron) rod and canopy. White painted metal frame. Round lampshade made of 27 hand blown embossed glass tubes. Big embossed glass disc in the middle. Metal E14 sockets.

Width: ∅ 41 cm / 16.53”
Glass Tubes: ∅ 4 x 13 cm / 1.57 x 5.11”
Electricity: 6 bulb E14, 6 x 40 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used. Not a specific one preferred.
Period: 1960s, 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Manufacturer: DORIA-Werkstätten, Walter Donner GmbH & Co. KG, Fürth, Germany.
Other versions: This 1960s DORIA glass tubes chandelier was made in many forms and sizes. Also made as flush mount and wall lamp. These type of chandeliers were produced from the sixties until the 1980s. Slight variations in the glass. Versions were made with gold flakes inside the glass and some other variations. This version has the big disc hanging on the frame. Most of the time the disc is screwed in the middle with a big ornamental screw.
DORIA
DORIA-WERK, DORIA-Werk – Beleuchtungsglas – Beleuchtungskörper orDoria-Werkstätten, Walter Donner GmbH & Co. KG was founded after the second World War in Fürth, near Nürnberg, Germany in 1948. The name changed over the years. The internal design team was named DORIA-Studio. The company is often named Doria Leuchten.
DORIA no longer exists. The firm was declared bankrupt in 1986.
A similar but bigger chandelier received an iF-Design Award in 1968, discipline: product.

Richard Essig – Often said that he designed lamps for DORIA, but it was a wholesale company that bought, among other things, old stocks. Essig sold lamps made by Staff, Disderot, Massive and several other companies, labelled with Richard Essig – Besigheim. You will never find a lamp attributed to Essig with a DORIA label.
Klaus Slama designed several lamps for DORIA: The DORIA mushroom table lamp is one of them.
