DORIA Round Ice Glass Chandelier

Materials: White painted metal frame. Brass and metal parts. Brass rod and canopy. Round lampshade made of 18 hand blown crystal curved clear ice glass blocks. Big frosted embossed glass disc. Round brass ornamental nut. 6 silver painted Bakelite E14 sockets.

Total Height: 76 cm / 29.92”

Height: 13 cm / 5.11”

Width: ∅ 41 cm / 16.14”

Glass Blocks: 13 x 6,5 cm / 5.11 x 2.55”

Electricity: 6 bulbs E14, 6 x 40 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used. Not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Designer: To be appraised.

Manufacturer: DORIA-Werkstätten, Walter Donner GmbH & Co. KG, Fürth, Germany.

Other versions: This DORIA round ice glass chandelier exists in several versions and sizes. The glass blocks were also used for flush mounts. You can find an example over here.

DORIA

DORIA-WERK, DORIA-Werk – Beleuchtungsglas – Beleuchtungskörper orDoria-Werkstätten, Walter Donner GmbH & Co. KG was founded after the Second World War in Fürth, near Nürnberg, Germany in 1948. The name changed over the years. The internal design team was named DORIA-Studio. The company is often named Doria Leuchten.

DORIA no longer exists. The firm was declared bankrupt in 1986.

Klaus Slama designed several lamps for DORIA: The DORIA mushroom table lamp is one of them.

Richard Essig – Often said that he designed lamps for DORIA, but it was a wholesale company who bought among other things old stocks.  Essig sold lamps made by Staff, Disderot, Massive and several other companies, labeled with Richard Essig – Besigheim. You never find a lamp attributed to Essig with a DORIA label.
