This brown acrylic pendant lamp has a rise & fall mechanism from the Italian Rolly company and has no date on it. So it must be from the late 1970s because older systems all have a date stamp.
This lamp is adjustable and is made in the style of the Italian Harvey Guzzini lamps from that period, but the plastic is thinner and made different. The brown is another type of brown and gives a different light as you can see for example by the Bud pendant lamp, the Flash floor lamp, the Clan floor lamp or the Brumbry table lamp.
Dijkstra Lampen B.V.
The Dijkstra company was founded in 1922 by Fokke Dijkstra in the small town Cruquius in the North-Holland province near Haarlem, not so for away from Amsterdam.
In 2011 Dijkstra had to sell the company, and it was taken over by Hala lighting, another one of the most oldest Dutch lamp factories. In 2013 Fokke Dijkstra (junior) was in a position to buy back the company his grandfather started. “Making lamps is in our genes” thus Fokke Dijkstra jr.
Today Dijkstra Lampen once again is a family business, producing custom light solutions, which complement the environmental architecture.
Acrylic: often named by its commercial name: Perspex, Plexiglas, Crylux, Acrylite, Lucite, is a thermoplastic.
