Megaron Style Floor Lamp

Materials: Round black painted metal (iron) base. 2 white painted elongated aluminium angular tubes. Aluminium reflector. Porcelain socket.

Height: 177 cm / 69.68”

Width: 15 cm / 5.90”

Base: ∅ 30 cm / 11.81”

Electricity:  Halogen double ended light bulb R7S – J Type T3. 1 x  300 watt maximum. 110/220 volt. Any type of halogen bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s, 1980s – Mid-Century Modern.

Designer: After a design by Gianfranco Frattini.

Manufacturer: To be appraised.

Other versions: This Megaron style floor lamp exists in all probability in several colours.

The Artemide Megaron Terra floor lamp has rounded corners. This lamp had angular corners. Also the middle rod below on the base is missing. Slight differences in size. The Artemide Megaron Terra floor lamp is 182 cm / 71.65” high. The base is ∅ 35 cm / 13.77”. The Artemide lamp was also made as a wall lamp.

Gianfranco Frattini

Gianfranco Frattini was born on 15 Mai 1926 in Padua, Italy. He got is degree in architecture in 1953 at the academy of Milan.
In the 50’s he became an apprentice of Gio Ponti.

He designed furniture for companies such as Cassina and Bernini. Frattini designed many apartments and houses. He created lamps for Arteluce, Artemide, MeroniLeukaSuperiorFontana ArteLumina and LUCI illuminazione d’interni.

Gianfranco-Frattini designed the Megaron floor lamp in 1979.

Gianfranco Frattini died in Milan, Italy on 6 April 2004, he was 78 years old.
