Big Hokkaido Table Lamp

Materials: Black lacquered wooden rectangular block with gold coloured elements. Japanese style drawing: presentation of a swimming couple of mandarin ducks in a pond. Brass parts, Bakelite socket. Fabric pagoda lampshade.

Total height: 87 cm / 34.25”

Lampshade: 60 x 40 cm / 23.62 x 15.74”

Height: 55 cm / 21.65”

Base: 26,4 x 14,9 cm / 10.39 x 5.86”

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 75 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb with an E27 socket can be used. Not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s, 1980s – Hollywood Regency.

Designer: To be appraised.

Manufacturer: Le Dauphin, Saint Marcellin, France.

Hokkaido: The second largest island of Japan, famous for it’s beautiful nature, hence the decoration on this table lamp.

The drawing has similarities with the works made by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1879-1949). But it’s probably a copy or an interpretation that we couldn’t find by some other artist. Information about it is welcome.

The company name has it’s origin in the former name of the province were it’s located: Dauphiné.
