This bas-relief brass table lamp has a paper label on the bottom, J.L.B. 75 watt Max, Type: (hand written) “Bas Relief”.

A bas-relief or low relief originates from the Italian “basso rilievo”. It is a projecting image with a shallow overall depth. This rectangular bas-relief of flowers and birds is carved in wood and painted gold. Painted brown on the back.

Two other table lamps from the J.L.B. company can be found here on Vintageinfo, one agate table lamp and 2 ducks table lamps, all with a similar rectangular brass base.
