House of Gucci
A red Aluminor UFO desk lamp with a the same lampshade, but another base, was used as a table lamp in the 2021 American biographical crime drama film House of Gucci. Starring: Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto and several other famous stars. Many other beautiful lamps appear in this movie. But sometimes time travellers pass by. For example, a lady is playing on the dance floor in a disco in the 70s with a plastic LED globe lamp that changes colour all the time. Some recent Chinese gadget. LED already existed, but could not change colour yet.

Materials: Orange painted round flat iron base & folded rod. Adjustable orange and white painted UFO style lampshade made of two aluminium parts. Some iron parts. Brass E14 socket with a porcelain ring.
Height: 26 cm / 10.23”
Lampshade: ∅ 22 cm / 8.66”
Base: ∅ 12 cm / 4.72”
Electricity: 1 bulb E14, 1 x 40 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.
Period: 1950s, 1960s – Mid-Century Modern.
Designer: To be appraised.
Manufacturer: Aluminor, Nice, France.
Other versions: This Aluminor UFO desk lamp exists in several colours and variations. The design of the lampshade is reminiscent to a design by the Italian designer Oscar Torlasco for Lumi, his model 567 desk lamp from 1958. French company JUMO has produced a similar lamp, it is model 1300 M, a catalogue picture can be found on this page.
Aluminor
André Lavigne established Aluminor in Nice at the Côte d’Azur – the French Riviera in 1950 to manufacture camera shutters. A year later the company grows and develops into manufacturing lighting appliances, first as a subcontractor, then with its own products. In 1974 they moved to the Contes and they started to export their lighting to the United States. Over the years the company expanded and built a number of new workshops. The company still exists and they still produce lighting.
VLM Components
All the electric parts were made in the 1950s/1960s by VLM Components. VLM Components was founded in 1945 in Buccinasco, a small village near Milan, Italy. VLM Components is part of the Relco Group, founded in 1967. Today they are the owners of the brands Relco, Leuci, Relco Lighting, VLM Components and Segno. VLM Components became famous for the switches they produce which were designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1968.

A gold coloured Aluminor UFO desk lamp with a the same lampshade, but another base, was used as a prop in the Italian crime TV mini series Maltese – Il Romanzo del Commissario from 2017. Starring Kim Rossi Stuart and Rike Schmid.
L’Incredibile Storia dell’Isola Delle Rose (Rose Island)
A gold coloured Aluminor UFO desk lamp with a the same lampshade, but another base, was used as a prop in the 2020 Italian comedy-drama film L’Incredibile Storia dell’Isola Delle Rose (Rose Island). Starring: Elio Germano, Matilda De Angelis and Leonardo Lidi.
