Lamps produced by Palwa are often attributed to Gaetano Sciolari, but they are not, of course.
Despite the fact that everyone thinks Palwa has existed for a long time, the company was founded in 1987. It is probably the eastern/oriental style of the lamps that creates the confusion.
Palwa was also located in Barcelona and Valencia in Spain. The Palwa company was liquidated in 2003 in both countries by Mohammed Ghazi Ragheb, also director of Mimar Trading GmbH and one of the owners of Palwa. Farid Al Azem was the director of the company.
Palwa is mentioned in the Wikileaks papers about the bin Laden family and their businesses. It was part of SBG, the Saudi bin Laden Group. SBG is made up of multiple divisions and affiliates wich were Palwa Beleuchtungs GmbH and Palwa Iberica part of.
Palwa is probably an Arabic name, but I could not find any translation for it. However in Cebuano it is coconut palm.
Despite the fact that the company is liquidated in 2003 and the complete deletion from the register happened in 2011, the website of Palwa is still online in 2018.
Many thanks to Frank from Flowermountain.be for the pictures and the enthusiasm.
