Palwa Crystal Beads Chandelier

Materials: Curved brass rods, frame, chain & canopy. Cut glass beads flowers lampshade. 9 Bakelite E14 sockets.

Electricity: 9 bulbs E14, 9 x 40 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s, 1980s – Hollywood Regency.

Designer: To be appraised.

Manufacturer: Palwa, Palme & Walter, K.G., 4 Steinschonauerstrasse, Gross-Umstadt, Germany.

Other versions: This Palwa crystal beads chandelier exists in several variations. Smaller versions exists. Also wall lamps were made.

Lamps produced by Palwa are often attributed to Gaetano Sciolari, but they are not, of course.

Palwa

Palwa or Palme & Walter, K.G. is a German company from Gross-Umstadt, Hessen. In 1987 it changed to Palwa Services Ragheb M.G. The address and name changed to Palwa Services Ragheb M.G., Andreasgasse 8, D-64846 Gross-Zimmern. Palwa Iberica S.A., Carrer del Rosselló, 209, 08026 Barcelona, Spain.

Palwa was also located in Barcelona and Valencia in Spain. The Palwa company was liquidated in 2003 in both countries by Mohammed Ghazi Ragheb, also director of Mimar Trading GmbH and one of the owners of PalwaFarid Al Azem was the director of the company.

Palwa is mentioned in the Wikileaks papers about the bin Laden family and their businesses. It was part of SBG, the Saudi bin Laden Group. SBG is made up of multiple divisions and affiliates which were Palwa Beleuchtungs GmbH and Palwa Iberica part of.

Despite the fact that the company is liquidated in 2003 and the complete deletion from the register happened in 2011, the website of Palwa is still online in 2020.

Christoph Palme Leuchten

The Palwa company is often confused with Christoph Palme Leuchten, also from Germany. It is another company that still exists. Also this company produces crystal chandeliers.
