Ferruccio Laviani

Pietro Ferruccio Laviani was born in Cremona, near Milan in Italy in 1960. His work mainly focuses on product design, interior design, art direction and graphics. Since 1991, he is the Art Director for Kartell.

Ferruccio Laviani also worked for De Padova, Emmemobili, Flos, Foscarini, Moroso and Society (Limonta).

Often is said that this lamp is one of his early designs for Kartell in the 1990s, but this lamp was designed in 2003 and is still in production (2018).


Kartell is an Italian company that produces plastic contemporary furniture. The company, headquartered in Milan, began manufacturing automobile accessories in 1949. It expanded into home furnishings in 1963. It was founded by Italian chemical engineer Giulio Castelli (1920 – 2006) and his wife and architect Anna Castelli Ferrieri (1918 – 2006). Kartell became well-known due to the work of design’s by her hand.
