Bakalowits Crystal Glass Rods Lantern Pendant Lamp

Materials: Round lampshade made of gold-plated brass rods, chain, canopy & parts. Many crystal glass rods. Bakelite E27 socket.

Chain Length: 25 cm / 23.62’’

Height: 55 cm / 17.72”

Width: ∅ 30 cm / 25.2”

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 60 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb with an E27 screw base can be used. Not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s, 1980s – Hollywood Regency.

Designer: To be determined.

Manufacturer: Bakalowits & Sohne. Today Bakalowits Licht Design GmbH, Gumpendorfer Straße 32, 1060 Vienna, Austria.

Other versions: This Bakalowits crystal glass rods lantern pendant lamp exists as a wall lamp or sconce. It was probably produced in  several varieties. Bakalowits produced several chandeliers and other lamps in this style with glass rods/tubes. You can find another one here on Vintageinfo.


The Bakalowits company was founded in 1845 by Elias Bakalowits and they create stunning lights. Bakalowits is responsible for the biggest chandelier ever built. They did it for the parliament building in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, today Serbia. The company has remained family owned since 1845 and is managed in fifth generation by CEO KR Prof. Friedl Bakalowits.


In France the company Atelier Petitot produced many lamps with glass rods in the art deco period. It was founded and owned by Henry Petitot.
