Aro-Leuchten

Aro-Leuchten GmbH was founded in 1969 as a family-owned company and remained active for nearly four decades, ceasing operations in 2006. Unfortunately, very little documented information about the company has survived.

The company’s former website (www.aro-leuchten.de) is no longer online. Matthias Arnold was the last known managing director. Beyond these basic facts, archival sources and catalogues appear to be scarce.

Aro-Leuchten specialised in the production of lamps that visually resembled well-known glass designs, but were instead manufactured in acrylic (plastic). Several documented examples can be found here on Vintageinfo.

Lamps in a similar style were also produced in Germany and Austria by manufacturers such as Doria-Werkstätten and Rupert Nikoll. In particular, the lamps by Rupert Nikoll are known for incorporating real dried flowers into their shades, making them extremely delicate objects. As a result, relatively few of these lamps have survived.
