Philippe Cheverny
Philippe Cheverny, born in Rouen, France in 1936, was an artist, designer and decorator from France. He produced many lamps, furniture, paintings and objects. Many objects and lamps have this gold decoration. The company was at least active in the 60’s and 70’s. Philippe Cheverny also designed for other companies such as Charpentier and Design Kit.
This lamp presents an impression of stream-gold; gold as can be found in it’s purest form in nature. Lamps with natural materials, minerals, fossils, gems and so on became extremely popular in the 1970’s. Willy Daro (Belgium) was a specialist in this theme. You can find several examples of his creations here on Vintageinfo.
The most famous “gold-artist” was Claude Victor Boeltz (1937) from Paris, France. The business is closed, but you can find his website online.
