Strips Pendant Lamp
Materials: Globe lampshade made of clear acrylic and white folded PVC plastic slats. Bakelite E27 socket.

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 100 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, but a white/opaque or frosted bulb is preferred.

The Strips pendant lamp is made of clear acrylic and white PVC. The flexible rings (strips) are slightly transparent, except for the outermost ring that’s opaque. Each ring overlaps the next one, which creates a very special effect.
Artist Flemming Brylle (born 26 august 1935) and industrial designer Preben Jacobsen designed this pendant lamp in 1965 when they founded their company Quality System. The company ended business in 1985.
In 2003 Flemming Brylle and Preben Jacobsen re-established the company and produced new retro-style designs.
Until a few years back they were in the design board of Quality System, mentoring the young team, and ensuring the steady flow of new designs. The company CEO today is Christian Brylle, son of Flemming Brylle. Flemming Brylle is still mentoring the younger designers.
Many designers created lamps for the company, among others the famous Morten Gøttler. He designed the Oscar and the Diamond pendant lamp and several other lamps. Often said that he designed the Strips lamp.
IKEA
In the 2000s IKEA sold the Strips pendant lamp and table lamp as Lakene lamp. The name Lakene was re-used and today (2020) it is a LED recessed spotlight. The difference between the two is that the IKEA versions have recycling symbols moulded in the plastic.
Acrylic: often named by its commercial name: Perspex, Plexiglas, Crylux, Acrylite, Lucite, is a thermoplastic.
Text on the box for the assembly of the Strips pendant lamp
Place lamp fitting, cable and bulb on the roundel with the hole in the middle (Fig. 1).
Assemble the five plastic parts by means of the two roundels (the one carrying the lamp fitting at the bottom). Fig 2.
Press the units in place until they lock. Now mount the slats in position starting at the bottom with the smallest one.
Bend the slat with two fingers according tot the shape of the notch. Fit it in place and let go (Fig 3). Check that all the slats are in position in their notches. Your STRIPS lamp is complete (Fig. 4).
