Sergio Mazza
Sergio Mazza is an Italian designer born in Milan in 1931. He began his career as a freelancer in 1955 and later co-founded Artemide with Ernesto Gismondi in 1959. Artemide specialized in lighting equipment and quickly established itself as a leading brand in the field. Mazza designed several iconic lamps for Artemide, including the Alfa table lamp (1959), Delta lamp, and the Clio wall light.
In 1961, Mazza parted ways with Gismondi and, together with architect Giuliana Gramigna, opened Studio Smc in Milan. They collaborated on various furniture and product designs for notable brands such as Arflex, Cinova, Formica, Krupp, Poltrona Frau, and of course Quattrifolio. Notable designs from this period include the Chioccio and Pulcino table lamp for Quattrifolio and the Gamma wall lamp for Artemide.
Mazza‘s contributions to Artemide and his collaborations with Quattrifolio have left a lasting impact on the design world, with many of his creations becoming cult objects and part of prestigious international museum collections.

The intention to produce well-made objects, as well as a sophisticated design, has enabled us to contribute to the growth not only of the company but also of the entire design scene in Italy. Over the years the company maintained the original concepts of the founding members. At the same time, the current management team is popular and has been working in the lighting and design sector for decades and giving life to Quattrifolio 1964 s.r.l.
