Amber Glass Teardrops Chandelier

Materials: Metal brass, gold coloured frame. Brass chain and canopy. Brown, amber, orange and clear crystal hand blown Murano glass. Flat rods inserted with real gold flakes of gold foil. Decorated with an amber coloured droplet. Gold coloured Bakelite E14 sockets.

Chain: 80 cm / 31.49”

Height: 50 cm / 19.68”

Width: ∅ 43 cm / 16.92”

Electricity: 3bulbsE14, 3 x 40 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Anytypeof light bulb canbeused, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s.

Designer: Carlo Nason – attributed.

Manufacturer: AV Mazzega, Murano, Italy – attributed.

Other versions: This amber glass teardrops chandelier exists in several varieties. Bigger and smaller versions and different colours with some variations. Also produced as a wall lamp.

A comparable clear glass version was named Water Fall. Since  2019, it is back in production. It is not certain that this is an AV Mazzega chandelier, although it is strongly reminiscent. AV Mazzega

AV Mazzega was founded in 1946 by Angelo Vittorio Mazzega. In 1950 his son Gianni Bruno Mazzega started working in the family’s glass factory. Gianni Bruno Mazzega is responsible for the creation of many beautiful lamps.

Today, under the watchful eye of Andrea Mazzega, grandson of Angelo Vittorio, the company works together with high-level international designers. Andrea is the president of the company since 2000. The company is renamed in Mazzega 1946; the year AV Mazzega was founded. 

Designers that worked for AV Mazzega – Mazzega 1946 are among others: Carlo NasonAldo Nason, Christophe Pillet, Michele De Lucchi, Giovanni Barbato, Paolo Piva, Sam Baron, Gasmi Chafik, Oriano Favaretto and Riccardo Giovanetti.
