Siemens Siform Table Lamp

Materials: Round white plastic base. Cast iron counterweight inside. White plastic concave rod, metal rod inside. Chrome ring. Round ribbed plastic diffuser. Red painted aluminium mushroom lampshade. White plastic top. Some metal parts. Metal choke ballast.

Lampshade: 37,5 cm / 14.76”

Height: 50 cm / 19.68”

Base: ∅ 24 cm / 9.44”

Electricity: 1 circular fluorescent tube 32 watt, 220 volt.

Period: 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Designer: To be appraised.

Manufacturer: Siemens AG, Berlin, Germany.

Other versions: The Siemens Siform table lamp exists in several colours. Also made as a pendant lamp and made with a few different style diffusers.

Siemens AG

Siemens AG started as Siemens-Schuckertwerke or Siemens-Schuckert. It is a German electrical engineering company headquartered in Berlin. Siemens Schuckert was founded in 1903 when Siemens & Halske bought Schuckertwerke. Siemens-Schuckert was specialised in power engineering and pneumatic instrumentation. All the lamps of Siemens were also produced at the Siemens-Schuckert plant. It also had factories in Erlangen and Nuremberg.

Siemens-Schuckert build a number of heavy bombers early in World War I. In 1936 the airplane part of company reorganized and became Bramo, the Brandenburgische Motorenwerke and were purchased in 1939 by BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) to become BMW Flugmotorenbau.

The Siemens-Schuckertwerke company was incorporated into the Siemens AG in 1966. The Siemens company still exists but it does not produce lighting anymore.
