Maison Barbier
Philippe Barbier designed many table lamps in this style but not so kitschy as this one. Maison Barbier was a small factory in the Rue du Pré aux Clercs, near the Boulevard Saint-Germain in the centre of Paris. The company is long gone.
Philippe Barbier was the first to distribute the famous stool “Tam-Tam” designed by Henry Massonnet (1922-2005), which he helped to develop. The chair is still in production. (external links open in a new window)
Lamps in the movies!
A comparable floor-table lamp with a different lampshade was used as a prop in the 2009 film Mr. Nobody. A science fiction drama film written and directed by Jaco Van Dormael. Starring Jared Leto,
Sarah Polley and Diane Kruger. Many other lamps appear in this film.
