Camille Breesch Sandstone Table Lamp

Materials: Brass base with a square sandstone beam on top. Brass rods and parts. Adjustable square fabric lampshade. 2 Bakelite E27 socket.

Height: 88 to 97 cm / 34.64 x 38.18”

Width: 46 cm / 18.11”

Base: 15 x 15 cm / 5.90 x 5.90”

Electricity: 2 bulbs E27, 2 x 60 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Designer: Camille Breesch – attributed.

Manufacturer: Camille Breesch, Belgium.

Other versions: This Camille Breesch sandstone table lamp exists in some variations and was also made in Carrara marble and limestone.

Camille Breesch

Camille Breesch was an artist and artisan with a small company in the Limburg province in Belgium. All his lamps are made in natural stone, mostly combined with brass. Often travertine but also Carrara marble, both from Italy. The company was active in the 60’s and 70’s. Most of the lamps have a metal label on the front of the base with the name Camille Breesch on it. Often it is a plastic label or a sticker. This one has no label.

Travertine is a form of limestone and can be found in several places in Europe.

VLM Components

All the electric parts were made in the late 70s by VLM Components. The company was founded in 1945 in Buccinasco, a small village near Milan, Italy. The company became famous for the switches they produce since 1968, designed by Achille Castiglioni. You can find them over here. Today VLM is part of the Relco Group, founded in 1967. They are the owners of the brands RelcoLeuciRelco LightingVLM and Segno.
