Materials: Round flat red painted metal (iron) base. Thin chromed metal rod. Red painted aluminium lampshade, painted white inside. Small chrome rod on top. 2 brass B22 lamp sockets.

Electricity: 2 bulbs B22,  2 x 60 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

This lamp is a bit of a strange story. They’re consistently sold in France as 1970s Unilux lamps. If the company’s bio is correct, it should be a Ledu lamp. But Ledu has always made folding desk lamps, architect’s lamps. Although it cannot be ruled out that they also produced other lamps. But unfortunately, nothing can be found about it. The number of different models of “regular” Unilux lamps you can find from that period is quite limited, so why not?

Unilux

Unilux was founded in 1952 in the south of Paris as the exclusive distributor of Ledu, a Norwegian lighting brand. What began as a distribution business gradually evolved into a manufacturer in its own right. By 1989 the company was developing and producing its own range of products, extending beyond desk lamps and uplighters to include office accessories such as coat stands and footrests.

A turning point came in 2000, when Unilux became part of the Hamelin group, a major European player in stationery. Within this larger structure, the company placed a strong emphasis on quality and sustainability.

Sustainability became an increasingly central theme. In 2012 Unilux received an environmental award from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Essonne, honored for its life-cycle analysis approach that measured and sought to reduce the ecological impact of its products.

Innovation also remained at the heart of its work. In 2017 Unilux introduced a connected LED smart lamp, paired with the my Unilux app, designed to help users regulate their circadian rhythms.

Today, the company is recognized for combining lighting and office accessories with a focus on design, well-being, and environmental awareness.
