Edi Franz Swisslamps Floor Lamp
Materials: Round yellow painted flat metal base. Long chrome rod. 2 yellow adjustable aluminium tubular lampshades with a yellow ring and 3 chrome attachment points. 2 clear acrylic decorative caps for the spring mechanism to adjust the lamps in height. Some metal parts. 2 metal E27 sockets.
Height: 160 cm / 62.99”
Lampshade: ∅ 12,3 x 27 cm / 4.84 x 10.62”
Base: ∅ 25 cm / 9.84”
Electricity: 2 bulbs E27, 2 x 75 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.
Period: 1950s, 1960s – Mid-Century Modern.
Designer: Edi Franz in 1956.
Manufacturer: Swisslamps International AG, Zürich, Switzerland.
Other versions: This Edi Franz Swisslamps floor lamp exists in several varieties and colours. It exists with one or two lamps. Also a desk lamp was made. This one is model 18090.
Edi Franz is a designer from Switzerland, born in 1924. He designed several lamps for the company.
Swisslamps
Not much information can be found about the Swisslamps International company from Zürich, Switzerland. The company was at least active from the 1950s until the 1980s.
In 2016 Heike Wagner & Dominik Zehnder from Ping Pong in Ennetbaden, Switzerland, bought the company name and a big old stock. They sell and restore old lamps and parts.
Designers that worked for the Swisslamps-International company are, among others: Trix & Robert Haussmann, SLZ Team (Swisslamps Zurich), Laszlo Nigrini, V. Frauenknecht, LAD Team, Peter Hügli, Alfred Halblützel, Rico Baltensweiler and Rosmarie Schwarz (Baltensweiler).
Another company with the name Swisslamps exists. The produce cardboard lamps.
