Murano Globe Pendant Lamp

Materials: clear orange crystal hand blown Murano glass globe lampshade with a white opal striped circles design. Chromed metal (iron) concave top, painted black in the middle. Chrome chain and canopy. Bakelite E27 socket.

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 60 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1960s,1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Other versions: This Murano globe pendant lamp was probably made in some variations. All these lamps were hand blown and therefore all unique with a little difference in size and colours.

Carlo Moretti

Carlo Moretti S.r.L. was founded in 1958 by the brothers Carlo and Giovanni Moretti. Carlo was born in 1934, Giovanni in 1940. He was mainly responsible for the design and production of the company’s artefacts. Carlo Moretti has been awarded with numerous prizes and international rewards. During the 80s he was co-responsible for the establishment of the island’s new museum of contemporary glass. Carlo designed many objects and lamps in this orange and opal glass swirl-striped style. He died suddenly on on May 30th 2008.

Giovanni Moretti was mainly in charge of image, marketing and external relations. He was President of the Venice Glass Consortium (Consorzio Venezia Vetro) from 1989 until 1994, promoter of the mark of origin “Vetri Murano” and of the Museum of contemporary glass in Murano in the period 1985–1986. Giovanni Moretti died April 18th 2014.
