Sun Luen Sean Table Lamp

Materials: Black conical plastic base. Adjustable stainless steel and polished brass parts and screws. Round glass disc and mirror. Black plastic lampshade. Porcelain socket.

Base: ∅ 11 x 15 cm / 4.33 x 5.90”

Electricity: 1 halogen bulb G4, 1 x 20 watt maximum, 110/220 volt. Any type of halogen G4 bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 2000s.

Designer: Copy of the design by Ygnacio Baranga.

Other versions: This Sun Luen Sean table lamp exists also in white.

The original robot design is the Osqar table lamp by Ygnacio Baranga from the late 1980s. It was only produced a few years in the 90s. This lamp is clearly a shameless copy.

The most striking difference is that this lamp has a complete different base and no dimmer.  The original base is a conical square base with a built-in fuse and dimmer. You can find the original lamp over here, with it’s complete history.

Sun Luen

Sun Luen Electrical Mfg Co Ltd is a company from Hong Kong, China, founded in 1975, in the period Hong Kong was a colony of the British Empire. The whole territory, Hong Kong and Kowloon was transferred to China in 1997, after a 99-year lease.

In 1975 Sun Luen started with the production of hairdryers.  The factory plant is located at Dongguan of Guangdong, the largest industrial region of China.

Lighting production started in 2010, when this lamp was introduced. Today they produce hundred types of hair dryers and hair styling products and hundred types of lamps. Almost every lamp they produce have a human forename.
