Silver Enamelled Ceramic Table Lamp

Materials: Chromed metal (iron) round base. Round silver, chrome enamelled Saturn or UFO style ceramics with a big disc in the middle. Tubular fabric lampshade with 2 chrome rings. Bakelite E27 socket.

Height: 69 cm / 9.84” – adjustable

Width: ∅ 38 cm / 7.87”

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 75 watt, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used. Not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1960s, 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Other versions: This silver enamelled ceramic table lamp was probably produced in several versions, and possible with other lampshades.

No label or markings are present on this lamp, unfortunately. In all probability this table lamp was made in Italy. These discus type lamps are often named Saturn lamps. Many of them were made in Italy. This one is a rare seen model.

Metallic, chrome or silver glazing became popular in the 60s and 70s. Today the glazing is named Palladium.

VLM Components

The wiring, plug, switch and socket are Italian and they are made by VLM Components from Buccinasco near Milan in the sixties and seventies. The company became famous for the switches they produce since 1968, designed by Achille Castiglioni. You can find them over here.

VLM is part of the Relco Group, founded in 1967. Today they are the owners of the brands RelcoLeuciRelco LightingVLM and Segno.
