Stilux Rise & Fall Pendant Lamp

Width: ∅ 42 cm / 16.53”

Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1960s – 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Designer: To be appraised, but to say the least, inspired by the Harvey Guzzini lamps who were very popular in that period.

Manufacturer: Stilux Milan, Italy.

Other versions: Numerous colours and styles as you can see on a few examples on this page, even a wall light was produced.

This lamp is made in 1973. The rise and fall mechanism has a date stamp on it, and is made by the Italian Rolly company. Rolly was a manufacturer that produced rise & fall mechanisms for many light companies throughout Europe.

These pendant lamps always have a switch on top of the lampshade. Some versions have gold coloured anodized aluminium.

The Stilux company no longer exists. There is a Stilux company in Milan, but it’s got nothing to do with lighting: “Stilux is a company that deals with professional printing and paper converting solutions for communication”. There was also a Sti-lux company that made lamps in the 1990s, but that also no longer exists.
