Stainless Steel Table Lamps

Materials: Brushed turned, twisted, swirling stainless steel lampshades, polished on the inside. Nickel-plated metal E14 sockets.

Height: 27,7 cm / 10.90”

Width: ∅ 7 cm / 2.75”

Electricity: 1 bulb E14, 1 x 60 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred. For this setup small clear bulbs were used. The same bulbs as used in an oven or refrigerator

Period: 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Manufacturer: To be appraised.

Other versions: It is unknown if these stainless steel table lamps were made in several versions. Maybe a bigger size was produced.

No label, only “Nr 1000 H” pressed on the bottom of the sockets. In all probability it is the type of socket and it got nothing to do with this lamps.

Sometimes you find these lamps for sale as François Monnet lamps.

This lamp has many similarities with a Stilnovo table lamp from the 70s. The Stilnovo lamp has a black round base. The stainless steel is shiny and painted white on the inside. Also it has a black rim and the lamp is 74 cm / 29.13” high.

Companies

Lamps like these were made by companies such as Uginox from France, Gallery Oxar (Luminox), also from France. Reggiani Spa Illuminazione and Tappital from Italy, Polam from Poland and several others.

Uginox, the name says it all, produced furniture and lamps all made of stainless steel or Inox. Designers that worked for Uginox/Kappa were, among others Joelle Ferlande, Maria Pergay, Patrice Maffei and François Monnet.

Also the Italian Reggiani produced several lamps in this style.

Stainless steel lamps like these were among others designed by Robert Sonneman (USA), Louis Durot (France), Henri Mathieu (France), Michel Boyer (France). Stilnovo produced the Spinnaker lamp designed by Corsini and Wiskemann in 1968.

The most famous European designer and maker of metal lamps is Max Sauze. His lamps are all made of aluminium, sometimes in brass or copper.

Stainless steel, also known as Inox from the French inoxydable, is a steel alloy.
