Scandinavian Aluminium Pendant Lamp

Materials: Gold coloured anodised aluminium witch hat style double lampshade, painted white on the inside. Brass bar, plastic parts. Bakelite E27 socket.

Cord: This one has an adjustable rise & fall mechanism (40 to 140 cm / 15.74 to 55.11 “), and can be easily adjusted in height by pulling the bar underneath.

Height: 27 cm / 10.62”

Width: ∅ 45 cm / 17.71”

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 100 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred.

Period: 1970s – Mid-Century Modern.

Other companies such as Nordisk Solar and many others, made similar lamps.

The rise & fall mechanism of this Scandinavian aluminium pendant lamp or hanging lamp is made by the Italian Rolly company and has no date on it. This tells us that it’s been made in the late 70’s or later. The older Rolly mechanism’s all have a date moulded in it.

Lyskær 

Lyskær Belysnin (Lyskær lighting) started to produce lamps in 1969. In the late seventies Fog & Mørup merged with Lyfa, two other leading Danish lighting producers. A few years later Lyfa-Fog & Mørup was taken over by Lyskær. The name changed in Lyskær-Lyfa.

Lyskær-Lyfa produced lights until 1991, when it was incorporated into Horn Belysning A/S of Aalstrup, which was itself taken over in 2005 by Nordlux of Ålborg and at a large extent dismantled. Today the Lyfa company has revived and they sell some of their old icons.
