Prof. Petucco Table Lamp

Materials: White round enamelled ceramics base. Brown fabric layered lampshade, clear plastic on the inside. Bakelite socket.

Electricity: 1 bulb E27, 1 x 100 watt maximum, 110/220 volt.
Any type of light bulb can be used, not a specific one preferred. For this setup a globe bulb was used.

Period: 1970s, 1980s – Mid-Century Modern.

Designer: Giambattista Petucco (attributed).

Manufacturer: Ceramiche D’arte Prof. Petucco, Via Molini, 78, Nove, Italy.

Other versions: For the moment it is unclear if this Prof. Petucco table lamp exists in several versions or colours. Despite the company existed a long time, to see on all the different labels, hardly any information to be found about his lamps or other ceramics.

The lampshade is made “the American way”. This type of lampshade is typical for the 1950s – 1960s in the USA.

Prof. Petucco

Prof. Petucco is an artisan ceramics company located at Nove, a town in the province of Vicenza in the region of Veneto in the north-eastern region of Italy, with just over 5,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Brenta river, near Marostica and Bassano del Grappa. The town is home of a local network of ceramics industries.

Very rare lamp, no other lamp from this company to be found on the internet in the last 14 years (2006-2020).

The owner is Giambattista Petucco. He founded the company in the 1940s as Petucco e Tolio. In 1980 the name changed into Ceramiche D’arte Prof. Petucco, probably after a restart. Prof. Pettuco is located at the Via Mulini, 50 in 36055 Nove and still exists, but has no website.

The company produces all kind of ceramics. Labelled or stamped with: PTC: Petucco, Tolio, Cuman or Laboratorio di Arte Ceramica or Petucco & Tolio or REGAL, Petucco & Tolio.

VLM Components

All the electric parts were made by VLM Components. VLM Components was founded in 1945 in Buccinasco, a small village near Milan, Italy. VLM Components is part of the Relco Group, founded in 1967. Today they are the owners of the brands Relco, Leuci, Relco Lighting, VLM Components and Segno. VLM Components became famous for the switches they produce which were designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1968.
