This Pigot candlestick table lamp or bedside lamp was handmade in Spain in the late 60s, early 70s. The wood is in all probability some darkened Spanish pinewood from the Maritime Pine, the pinus pinaster.

These type of lamps were made for many years, probably since the beginning of the 20th century. The hand carved real candlesticks for a candle many centuries before, of course.

Pigot

Pigot is the Spanish slang word for woodpecker (pájaro carpintero) as you can see on the label. The company is long gone. They produced all kind of things in olivewood and pinewood. Candlesticks, book ends/supports, ashtrays… Sometimes combined with other materials such as glass, iron and copper. Today, several companies in Spain use the name Pigot. Supermarkets, restaurants, garages and so on.

The switch is made by Elko, the plug is a new one.
